Wow, you cutesy Patels, I can't believe it's been a whole year! Time flies when you're in love hehe :)
The wedding week started off with the only thing every wedding week starts with..... dance practice. So much dance practice. It was actually really fun once family started coming into town. We had all the Raos and Himanshu staying with us, so it was a full house. It started to really feel like the wedding week!
Haldi/Mendhi
I woke up at my house and knew I needed to gather all my things to go over to Richardson. Of course, I'm running late and nothing seems to go as planned. I made it and started helping everything get set up. Jaya looked beautiful as ever, and I thought it was so sweet that she wore Ma’s yellow outfit. Once the Haldi was over, we had to hustle to get things set up for the Sangeet. The glam gals came, and while they did Jaya’s hair and makeup, I had dance practice with Navika, Dolly Didi and Ravi. Asha and Robby were there as cheerleaders. The Sangeet flew by. It was so fun to have everyone over and the house looked AMAZING. When the Patels arrived, I got in place to welcome them and was shocked to see the crowd of people walking down the street. Patels roll deep! After all the introductions, we did the gift exchange. Shovaen and his family gave me my favorite bracelet (I actually keep meaning to ask where it is from so I can shop there!). One of the best parts was that Bhaskar Uncle had just signed up for Instagram and was snapping pics of everyone. Sheila made the cut! When the party left, we opened gifts and went home for the night.

Sangeet
I barely slept the night before because I knew I had the biggest task of all the next morning… to bring the Godhwanis’ wedding outfits to the hotel. I must have triple checked to make sure we had everything. Hair and makeup by Blush and Glow arrived and the glam session began. I have never seen Jaya look so stunning, she looked like the perfect Indian barbie. I went for an Ariana Grande look, but it didn’t work out as well I wanted. Once the Sangeet started, the socializing began. The best part of a wedding weekend is having everyone you love in one place. As I looked around, I knew that was exactly what Jaya was going to experience. Fifteen minutes before the program started, disaster hit. My blouse completely broke. I was in a panic. It was too late and the Jaggo began. That’s when the X-rated action happened :(. I was mortified. Thankfully, I had my gold blouse for the wedding and was able to make a quick change. The rest of the night was so much fun! See pics.
Jaya and I had a classic bathroom pic (note Gold blouse)
Sheila and I were walking and saw Navika crying. We asked her what was wrong and she said, “Some Auntie keeps grabbing me on the dance floor!” She was so sad. We were wondering who grabbed poor little Navika on the dance floor. Turns out, it was one of Jaya’s friends who had a few too many drinks and was trying to dance with Navika, but ended up scaring her. So funny!
Wedding and Reception
We woke up for the wedding and started the hustle. Jaya looked like a goddess. The whole wedding was a complete reflection of her, it was perfection. There was very little downtime between the wedding and reception, so I went to get my hair and makeup touch-ups done and worked on my speech with Ravi. We got to babysit Mira during this time since Shaun and Priyanka were busy! It was the best. We got ready for the reception and went downstairs. Jaya, of course, looked like the Queen she is. After almost tripping on my dress during our entrance, I sat down at the family table. One by one, we made our speeches. We had all the feels. After, the dinner was out and the dancing started. At a certain point, the music changed and Jaya looked at me and said, “I have a surprise for yall.” What?! She had time during the chaotic wedding planning to plan a surprise for everyone?! The doors opened and Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper marched in. It was an amazing surprise. To be the funny gals we are, Sheila and I asked to take a pic with them and threw up the Star Trek sign. Around that same time, I was at the bar when Jay Rupani tapped me on the shoulder and said he needed to talk. We stepped aside and he said, “I brought this for yall.” Of all the things it could have possibly been, it was a jump rope! Of course, that would only happen at one of our weddings. It was the best and everyone loved it!
